At the Shipyard
Only the best are chosen to work and live at our yard. Attitude, dedication and personal commitment to self-improvement are the deciding factors, even though we are fortunate to select from Asia's most highly qualified engineers and naval architects. After graduation, most workers are trained at our yard, working within a carefully structured reward and training programme. All our qualified welders have received their DNV certificates.
This education and discipline has been fundamental in our yard achieving recognition as the only shipyard in Asia capable of building 60-120 metre commercial catamarans and of building these to the world's highest technical standards.
The Sales Team
Providing products that satisfy the demands of our customers often rests on being able to talk and listen at the right times. Every order requires us to explore new depths in terms of knowledge. Most importantly, every customer is a business whose derived profit rests on a combination of speed, reliability and efficiency, and whose transport and financing needs must be sensitively understood to completely satisfy each order. Our people are continually accessible in two world regional sales offices, rather than being submerged in shipyards on the other side of the world. Our design flexibility goes well beyond the normal realms of service, ensuring a thoughtful approach to carefully delivering the right product at the right time and at the critical right cost. Management
Our management team encompasses financial, marketing and management expertise with highly recognised formal qualifications in all these areas, as well as, of course, strong technical expertise in the ship design, building and engineering fields. At our yard in Panyu, we have set up, through the yard management, supervisory teams who ensure that all building work proceeds in an orderly efficient manner.
Our management style is a unique blend of East and West, embodying the best of Western management know-how, combined with a strong culture of loyalty, discipline and hard work. This means that Afai's name signifies not only quality and excellence in our work and finished products, but also honesty and strong ethical principles in all our dealings with customers, associates, and suppliers, as well as our own workers.
Advanced Multihull Designs Pty Ltd
AMD is the world-leading designer of high-speed ferries, with the fastest car ferry operating in the world today, in South America, being one of their designs, and with vessels of their design operating in USA, South America, South Pacific, Caribbean, and many Asian countries.
Our licensed development work with AMD of Australia ensures a close rapport with the most ingenious designers and problem-solvers in marine transport that money can buy. This means that Afai Ships has the ability, with AMD backup, to provide any type of vessel design that a client may require, no matter in which area it must operate or in what conditions.
Damen Shipyard Group
Damen, situated in the Netherlands, is the highly respected leading European builder of patrol boats and workboats.
Damen and Afai have jointly set up a company in HK (Afai Damen HK Limited) to build, to Damen's designs, patrol boats at Afai Ships' Panyu shipyard.
